John Avrett brings a diverse background spanning electrical engineering, renewable energy, and economic development to his work in modular construction. With degrees in electrical engineering and experience as a U.S. Air Force officer, he later served as a U.S. diplomat in Brazil, Jordan, and the Philippines, focusing on trade and investment. Building on his international experience and commitment to innovation, John founded Hive Modular in 2023 to explore new approaches to the housing crisis. Drawing inspiration from the aerospace industry, his work emphasizes scalable, resilient, and sustainable construction models. His leadership is grounded in values of integrity, empathy, and a long-term commitment to impactful, sustainable development.

The webinar will begin with an introduction to global challenges in housing and construction, followed by an exploration of offsite, rapidly deployable construction methods. Participants will gain insight into the benefits of factory-based building systems and the design principles that support resilience, scalability, and sustainability. The session will also feature real-world case studies demonstrating modular construction in practice, and will conclude with an interactive Q&A, offering attendees the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker.

  • Certificate of Participation: Participants must attend at least 75% of one day of the program and complete the short assessment. This certificate will include a signature from CIFAL Lebanon.
  • Certificate of Completion: Participants must attend at least 75% of both days of the program and complete the short assessment. This certificate will include signatures from CIFAL Lebanon and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
