As it concludes its inaugural year, CIFAL Lebanon releases its first Annual Report, highlighting a year of impactful programs, strategic partnerships, and capacity-building initiatives. The report reflects the center’s efforts in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through education, collaboration, and innovation.

Advancing Global Goals

CIFAL Lebanon is part of the CIFAL Global Network and operates under the auspices of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). Hosted by the Global CEO Alliance (GCEOA), an international NGO dedicated to advancing sustainable development through strategic collaboration amongst businesses, governments, multilaterals, academia, and civil society, CIFAL Lebanon leverages GCEOA’s extensive network and technical expertise. This partnership strengthens the center’s ability to deliver impactful programs that address both local and global challenges through education, training, and capacity-building initiatives.

Key Programs and Milestones

1. Virtual School Platform

CIFAL Lebanon’s Virtual School platform served as a central pillar of its educational initiatives, offering courses in language development and business communication. This effort reflects the center’s commitment to fostering essential skills while laying the groundwork for future training programs in sustainability-focused areas such as urban planning, ESG integration, and leadership for the SDGs.

2. SDG Webinar Series

The SDG Webinar Series serves as a vital platform for expert-led discussions on critical sustainability challenges and innovative solutions. Topics such as ESG for youth, sustainable supply chains, the blue economy, and impact sourcing are explored, fostering meaningful dialogue among professionals, government representatives, and industry stakeholders.

3. Partnership with UN-Habitat

Through its host organization, the Global CEO Alliance (GCEOA), CIFAL Lebanon established a partnership with UN-Habitat under the SDG Cities Global Initiative. As part of this partnership, CIFAL Lebanon co-developed the Own Source Revenue (OSR) for Local Governments e-course, an interactive learning program designed to strengthen local governments’ financial management systems by offering practical strategies such as property tax reform, citizen engagement, and streamlined accounting processes.

4. Participation in Global Events:

CIFAL Lebanon participated in international events, including the Twelfth Session of the World Urban Forum in Cairo, Egypt and the GIIN Impact Forum in Amsterdam, Netherlands, along with host organization GCEOA. These events offered platforms for knowledge sharing on sustainable urban development, impact investments, ESG integration, and capacity-building strategies. They also enabled meaningful exchanges with global stakeholders, reinforcing CIFAL Lebanon’s role in sustainability dialogues and paving the way for future partnerships.
