[Philippines, 29 January 2024] – CIFAL Lebanon, in collaboration with the Silay Institute, successfully hosted a comprehensive training webinar on "Introduction to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)" on 26 January 2024.

The event marked a significant stride in promoting sustainability education and fostering awareness of ESG practices amongst the youth.

The webinar commenced with a warm welcome from CIFAL Lebanon Executive Director and Global CEO Alliance Chairman Mr. James Donovan, who provided insights into CIFAL's mission and planned activities for the year, and expressed his deep appreciation for Silay Institute’s collaboration with the Center. 

Silay Institute School Director Dr. Florcelita Zamora , followed with a gracious welcome speech, emphasizing the importance of said collaboration between Silay Institute and CIFAL Lebanon in advancing sustainability education among their students and the youth in general.

Ms. Michelle Tan, Managing Director of CIFAL Lebanon, led the training session, engaging more than 120 students in an interactive learning experience. Her lecture presented the fundamental ESG concepts and case studies which illustrate the intersection of ESG and the SDGs.  The training also included a detailed exploration of the different pillars of ESG, offering students a practical understanding of how ESG practices are implemented by companies globally.

Silay Institute President Ms. Lilian Reventar expressed her appreciation for the event and its contribution to the academic enrichment of the students. She highlighted the school’s various sustainability initiatives, including the mangrove reforestation project in Silay, Philippines.

The webinar stood out for its interactive nature, as students actively participated in the discussion through surveys, polls and an open forum, enhancing the overall learning experience.
