PRESS RELEASE ON THE LAUNCH OF CIFAL LEBANON

Geneva, 15 November 2023 - UNITAR officially announced today the establishment of CIFAL Lebanon, the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Beirut, Lebanon, in collaboration with Global CEO Alliance, during the 20^th Annual Steering Committee Meeting of the CIFAL Global Network.

Global CEO Alliance, a non-profit organization focused on driving positive change and fostering sustainable business practices, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UNITAR for the establishment of CIFAL Lebanon on November 15, 2023. CIFAL Lebanon aims to serve as a training and capacity development hub for SDG 8 utilizing e-learning courses and SDG 11 through its trainings on the SDG cities initiative). Leveraging the expertise of UNITAR and the Global CEO Alliance, the center will offer specialized training programs, workshops, and resources to empower individuals, communities, and leaders in Lebanon and globally, in areas of environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and economic resilience.

Mr. James Donovan, Chairman and CEO of Global CEO Alliance, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This collaboration signifies a crucial step in advancing sustainable development goals in Lebanon and beyond. By bringing together the training expertise and network of UNITAR and the technological capacity and strategic vision of Global CEO Alliance, CIFAL Lebanon is poised to drive positive change and impact amongst communities in Lebanon and globally.”

CIFAL Lebanon is set to launch its inaugural programs in January 2024 focusing on Introduction to the SDG Cities Initiative and Impact Sourcing: Next Generation Supply Chain Impact. The center invites stakeholders from various sectors to engage in collaborative initiatives and encourages partnerships, sponsorships, and participation from organizations committed to sustainable development.
